"Red Bull Sound Clash" spice up the night in Houston

Houstonians Hot For Musical Latino Duel: Los Amigos Invisibles vs. Plastilina Mosh
On a pre-Halloween night, dark and stormy indeed, more than 1,800 gathered at Escapade 2001 to experience Red Bull Sound Clash, an unparalleled, live music exchange between two bands. All in attendance witnessed the glory that is Latin rock reinvented, as two South of the border talents, Los Amigos Invisibles of Venezuela dueled “frienemies” Plastilina Mosh of Mexico for the allegiance of the crowd. The national pride swelled for each country; flags waved, cameras flashed and the Latino beauties weren’t exactly shy.
The musical battle unfolded in four rounds, including the Clash, the Cover, the Takeover and the Wild Card. Fans cheered between rounds, awarding each band points for their performances. In the end, Los Amigos Invisibles took the crown. Then both bands joined together the same stage for the final song….and the crowd went wild.
“We’re friends with Los Amigos Invisibles so we’ve wanted to play together for a long time. Thanks to the team at Red Bull for creating this unique opportunity,” said Jonaz González of Plastilina Mosh. “It was a little like having a boxing match with your best friends.”
Plastilina Mosh, the provocateurs of Latin rock hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, brought their signature mélange of dance, groove, funk and pop, made famous with such international hits as “Mr. P. Mosh,” “Monster Truck,” and “Peligroso Pop.” Founders Jonaz González and Alejandro Rosso performed an audio spectacle on stage in a barrage of beats, hooks and riffs.
Venezuelan act Los Amigos Invisibles gave funky acid-jazz beats a South American twist. Loyal fans have been hot on the band’s trail since 1995. After a bold move to New York, Los Amigos Invisibles went bilingual with ethereal albums that convince old fans and new listeners that Latin dance music isn’t all salsa and merengue.
